The Best Way to Get Tanked

After work today, DH and I made a quick run to Wal-Mart to exchange empty propane tanks for a full ones so that we could grill shishkabobs for dinner.

After we pulled back into the driveway, DH popped open the tailgate and asked if I could carry one of the two full tanks to the deck.

Sure, I thought. No problem.

Lifting the the tank off the truckbed, it quickly made more sense to carry it with two hands, close to my body, to keep from straining my back. Looking down, I read the label: 17.5 pounds.

"Honey, get a load of this!" I yelled back through the garage. "We've each lost more weight than these tanks weigh!!"

Wow. And hurray for spontaneous celebrations!

Have you had an "aha" moment of comparing your weightloss to external objects?

I think that is brilliant! Such a great way to look at weight loss.
Another great weigh is children lol, my youngest is 30kg, and I'm looking forward to saying I have lost all of her off me :)

Hi! It was great to hear from you on my blog. I love finding new folks to read. I've added you to my list.

Last year when my 6 year old still weighed 55 pounds (she's almost 7 and now weighs 63ish), it was amazing to me to claim I'd lost a SIX YEAR OLD off my body. Still blows me away. My 2 year old is 35 pounds, and I've lost him plus 20 pounds. Crazy.

Hey, on your earlier post about being a size 16, good for you for stopping that negative internal dialogue. My experience with the size thing is that it took a good 30-35 pounds before it started to really show in my sizes and for people to notice. I'd done the same thing you did--grown out of my 16s but refused to buy 18s. The good news is that once you get the bulk of the weight off, you can get into smaller sizes with smaller amounts of weight lost. I went from a size 10 to a size 8 with about a 10 pound weight difference.

Keep up the good fight! You're doing great so far.

I think its great that you can compare your weight loss to a gas bottle. You're doing a great job!

I did the same thing when I had lost 50 pounds and Sadie went running down the block and I went and got her and carried her home. She weighed about 45 pounds at time and I thought to myself, no wonder I was struggling to walk 50 pounds ago! I was gasping for air once I got back to the house, a great reminder that I don't ever want to go back there again
