HYC Weigh-In

Without the Bestlife program and the support of my Healthy You Challenge blogger-buddies, I would have been mortified to run into a high school classmate, as I did Thursday night. That's when I learned our 35th class reunion is scheduled only 10 days from today!!

Right now, I'm only 20 pounds heavier than my high school weight, and hardly anyone at the reunion will know the details below, which have transpired since January 15:
* Total weight lost: 44 pounds (two pounds this week)
* Total inches lost: 38 inches (one inch this week)
* BMI: Starting 33.9 / Current 26.8 / Goal 23.4 or less
* Waist-to-hip Ratio: Starting .94 / Current .84 / Goal .80 or less
The good part is that this time, I didn't lose the weight to prepare for an event. I changed my lifestyle because I wanted to, because I needed to, and because I was ready. And that feels a whole lot different than trying to impress someone else.

Look at you in all your cuteness and resembling Scarlett Johansen.

And how great to attend your high school reunion at almost the same weight when you graduated from high school.

Heh... I have quite a ways to go to get back to my high school weight of 119... but I wouldn't go to my high school reunion if I weight 93 pounds and had a limo to take me! Grr. I hated high school and almost everyone in it...

I envy people who actually want to go to these events, and you've done such a great job at your weight loss! I'm really impressed!

Lynn - I can totally identify with you about high school. I didn't enjoy it either; but most of the people I know say that as you get older, all the crap means less and less as folks find out what's really important in life. Now that I'm beginning to get my own ducks in a row, I'm hoping I might be able to reconnect in a new way with other people who were not so encouraging back then.

Oops, I hit the wrong button. :)

I intended to add that I agree that you're far better off having made these changes for the truly important reasons. You just got lucky with the timing of the reunion. :)

You are going to ROCK at your reunion! So many people just lose for an occasion then they are back at their old habits.

A new you is so much more than a small BMI (although yours is fantastic!)

Looking forward to hearing all about it :)

You are adorable!! Congratulations on accomplishing so many things. Not just losing weight but becoming healthy and adopting a whole new outlook!

You deserve all the stares that you will get at that highschool reunion!

Cute photo! It's wonderful that you make healthy changes for all the right reasons!

I have absolutely no idea what I weighed in high school. I always felt fat, but looking at photos, I looked GOOD. I've got my 30th reunion coming up in August. I'm still a lot heavier than high school years, but I'm healthy and looking better every day. ;-)

Your story is very inspiring and it sounds like you changed your body for the right reasons. Hope you enjoy your reunion. I missed my 10 year reunion (which is now over 5 years ago) because I was 9 months pregnant, so I haven't had that experience myself yet.

Hurray on the two pound loss this week! Hurray on changes being prompted by you, not an event to try and impress others. If don't do this for ourselves, then it won't really matter.

Congrats on your results, Rebecca. You should walk into that reunion with your head held high, for SO many reasons. Not only are you healthy, but you’re accomplished in your career, plus a talented and compassionate woman. I'm proud to know you!
